Learning Support Assistant – Vacancy

Responsible to: Head of School
Reporting to: Curriculum/Subject leader
Responsible for:
- To support the development and delivery of the curriculum according to the examination and awarding bodies guidelines.
- Effective working relationships between other subject leaders, internal verifier, external verifier and students, with the Gateway Connect Core team.
Accountable for
Quality Relationships – learners.
Build and Maintain quality relationships with learners to ensure they feel valued and expected to achieve – ongoing monitoring to ensure underlying Maslow hierarchy is considered in every engagement.
Quality Relationships – parents and carers
Support role to ensure parents and carers are well informed and aware of learners’ wellbeing, learning and achievements. This will include, where relevant, making daily calls home, arranging and attending meetings with parents/cares as well as half termly reports.
Deliver sessions
To assist in delivering the session based on the understanding and development of the curriculum area by using the resources indicated by the Scheme of work, Year plan and, in accordance with, Lesson plans; Taking leadership from the curriculum leader or Course tutor.
Assessment/Marking/Grading/Feedback:
To assist in assessing the portfolios by marking, grading and providing feedback to students.
Portfolio building
To assist in ensuring that all students compile their portfolios based on the development of the curriculum area.
Portfolio Development: IV & EV
To assist in ensuring that all pertinent units required by the IV and EV are compiled appropriately and in accordance with the awarding body guidelines.
Extracurricular activities
To assist in identifying extra-curricular activities that would improve the delivery and evidence of portfolio work whilst enhancing students’ experience of learning. Support and accompany students whilst they are attending extra-curricular activities.
Performance management
Participating in the arrangements set by Gateway Connect for performance management, professional development and the arrangements for quality assurance and internal verification within Gateway Connect.
