Scary Guy to Bring Self-Confidence to Essex Schools
US inspirational speaker The Scary Guy is bringing his message directly to nearly 2,000 Essex school pupils in 2 days. On Thursday 24 March and Friday 25 March he will visit schools Gateway Connect, the Gateway Academy and Ormiston Park Academy to talk to young people about how to deal with difficult people and situations.
Scary’s message is about bullying and how people can become isolated and vulnerable. He talks about how that can lead to young people becoming involved in gangs and destructive groups – but he uses powerful stories and his own experience to show that there are better ways to live your life.
Scary is in Essex at the invitation of Essex Police and Essex County Council and the schools. He has done similar visits in other parts of the UK, all over the USA and in Germany. Scary’s website says:
“The Scary Guy’s message is pretty straightforward. He wants young people to put prejudice and intolerance aside and show love and acceptance to each other. It might sound all a bit happy-clappy for the fearsome figure whose teeth are capped with gold crowns, but … his attention-grabbing image is what helps hammer home his positive ideals.”
The Scary Guy is a former tattoo artist from America, six foot and twenty stone and with a striking appearance including tattoos covering most of his face. He has achieved major positive changes in lifestyle, behaviour and success for many young people, some of whom were very troubled, and young people who were vulnerable to being exploited. Behaviour in schools has often seen a major improvement following his visit!
