Social Work Student’s Blog
We are Gemma, Kelly and Melanie, three Social Work students from Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, Essex who are doing our work placement here at Gateway Connect for 100 days. We started in October and will finish our time here in June. On the days we are not here we attend Lectures at University.
We have been supporting the students in a mentoring capacity and have been working with them on a 1:1 basis as well as supporting them in their classes with work set by their Tutors. We have accompanied the students to Boxing and enjoyed the opportunity to join in the ‘warm up session’. Our work has been primarily with Year 10 Students although we have had interaction with Year 11 Students
In order to build on the relationship between Gateway Connect and Parent/Carers we are busy arranging home visits and getting their opinions on the support and help required for their child to achieve their full potential whilst at Gateway Connect.
This is a great experience for us and we are grateful for the support we are receiving from the students, tutors and all the staff at Gateway Connect.
