Spring Break

Spring break is here for Gateway Connect and we are closed for 2 weeks.

This term has been a good one as we have watched students settle down in to their routine and become more mature. They are starting to follow instructions, attend classes more reguarly and manage to sit on their chair for more than 30 seconds (joke).Year 11s have been very successful this term with many of them doing the bulk of the work and understanding that once the work has been marked they may need to come in just to finalise. They have also been attending in the afternoon to assist staff with the year 10s. Year 10s have also been successful this year, they have been more focused and able to follow simple instructions, for them this term staff were more focused on their social skills which enabled the staff to get more work out of the students.

Wednesday Gateway Connect had Matt from TGA come to give a presentation to Year 11s and Year 10s about Sexually Transmitted Diseases. His presentation was very informative, he explained about chlamydia tests being sent out to all young people up to the age of 25, also explained about C-Cards which all students are entitled to. If you want any further information please visit http://www.ccard.org.uk/ or speak to someone in the office.

This week the weather has been good to us, with plenty of sunshine. Gateway Connect had a relaxed morning outside on Thursday with all the year 11s and year 10s. Staff supplied hot dogs, tortilla chips and dips. Some of the Construction students assisted in tidying up the area for the BBQ. This gave the staff an opportunity to relax with the students and for everyone to interact on a more social level. Below are some photographs of this taking place.

We here at Gateway Connect hope you have a great Easter and remember to tell us all about it when you come back!

Well done everyone for your hard work and effort this term, you should all be proud of yourselfs for what you have achieved academically and socially.

Thank you,
Vikki
