Responsible to: Head of School
Responsible for: The development and delivery of the curriculum/Core subjects according to the examination and awarding bodies guidelines by creating a therapeutic and safe learning environment that will allow recording of learning, appropriate to the needs of the students and achieve the stated aims of the programme.
Have effective working relationships between other subject leaders, internal verifier, external verifier, students and with the Gateway Connect Core team.
Accountable for
Quality Relationships – Learners
Build and Maintain quality relationships with learners to ensure they feel valued and expected to achieve. To take a pro-active and reparative role in improving the mental and physical well-being of young people. To ensure wellbeing issues are relayed to appropriate staff. Have a full understanding of Individual Learning Plans and associated requirements of each individual student, regarding their learning.
Quality Relationships – parents and carers
Ensure that parents and carers are well informed and aware of what and how learners are doing with regards to their wellbeing and learning. This will include where relevant making daily calls home, arranging and attending meetings with parents/cares as well as half termly reports
Understand and develop the curriculum area
Subject leader must have a clear understanding of the requirements of the curriculum set out by the examination and awarding bodies; to research and develop curriculum area by planning which curriculum materials and equipment resources will be needed for delivery. To ensure worksheets are available with relevant/pertinent resources to enable students to produce their work to an acceptable standard. To be responsible for producing scheme of work, year plan and lesson plan based on curriculum area.
Deliver sessions
Subject leader will deliver the session based on the understanding and development of the curriculum area by using the resources indicated by the Scheme of work, Year plan and lesson plans.
Assessment:
To assess the portfolios by marking, grading and providing feedback to students; To ensure that all students compile their portfolios based on the development of the curriculum area; ensure that all pertinent units required by the IV and EV are compiled appropriately and in accordance with the awarding body guidelines.

To ensure that all students compile their portfolios based on the development of the curriculum area.

Extracurricular activities
To identify extra-curricular activities that would improve the delivery and evidence of portfolio work whilst enhancing students’ experience of learning. Support and accompany students whilst they are attending extra-curricular activities.
Data Management
Take an active role in day to day data creation and management as per guidance from Education Ops
Performance management
Participating in the arrangements set by Gateway Connect for performance management, professional development and the arrangements for quality assurance and internal verification within Gateway Connect.
